Pattern Manufacturing Service

Precision-built casting patterns that form the foundation of every accurate foundry mold. Metroniq designs and manufactures wood, metal, and resin patterns for sand casting, investment casting, and die tooling with tight dimensional control.

What Is Pattern Manufacturing

What is Pattern Manufacturing?

Pattern manufacturing is the process of building a replica of the final part, oversized to account for material shrinkage, that is used to form a cavity in molding sand or a mold tool. The pattern is pressed into or placed within the mould material to create the negative impression that molten metal or resin is later poured into. A well-made pattern directly determines the dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and repeatability of every casting produced from it, making pattern quality one of the most critical steps in the casting workflow.

Pattern Types We Manufacture

We build patterns matched to your production volume, part complexity, and casting process.

Solid Pattern

Solid Patterns

Single-piece patterns replicating the exact shape of the part, ideal for simple geometries and low-volume runs.

Split Pattern

Split Patterns

Two-part patterns divided along the parting line, used for parts with moderate complexity and internal features.

Match Plate Pattern

Match Plate Patterns

Patterns mounted on opposite sides of a metal plate for fast, repeatable, high-volume production casting.

Cope and Drag Pattern

Cope & Drag Patterns

Separate patterns for the upper and lower mold halves, mounted independently for large or intricate castings.

Pattern Materials

We select pattern material based on run length, part size, and required tolerance.

  • Wood: Cost-effective for prototypes and short production runs.
  • Aluminum: Durable and dimensionally stable for medium to high-volume production.
  • Resin & Epoxy: Fast turnaround with good detail reproduction for prototype castings.
  • Steel: Long-life patterns for continuous, high-volume foundry work.

Advantages of Precision Pattern Manufacturing

  • Consistent dimensional accuracy across every casting cycle.
  • Reduced scrap and rework through accurate shrinkage allowance.
  • Faster mold preparation with match plate and cope & drag designs.
  • Longer tool life with metal and resin pattern construction.

From Pattern to Finished Casting Process

Applications of Pattern Manufacturing

Patterns are the starting point for a wide range of cast components across industries.

01

Automotive Castings

Engine blocks, housings, and brackets cast from precision patterns built to exact shrinkage specifications.

02

Industrial Equipment

Pump housings, valve bodies, and machine bases produced from durable match plate and match-plate patterns.

03

Prototype Castings

Rapid resin and wood patterns for validating part design before committing to production tooling.

04

Foundry Production

Long-life steel and aluminum patterns supporting continuous, high-volume sand casting operations.
